Cold Saponification Process
One of the oldest methods for making soaps naturally is through the cold saponification process. This is the synthesis from the chemical reaction of oils or fats in an alkaline medium, which may well be sodium hydroxide. Saponification, also known as ester hydrolysis in a basic medium, is a chemical process by which a fatty substance, combined with a base and water, results in soap and glycerin.
Glycerin is great for your skin and luckily for us, it is produced naturally during the soap making process. All of our soaps contain glycerin which is produced during the soap making process through saponification. The naturally produced glycerin in our soaps is just one of the reasons why they feel so good and delicious on your skin.
